Parenting youth in foster care sometimes have complicated and intersecting needs and must deal with complicated systems and obligations to address those needs. Recent events have created challenges that directly impact their access to certain services and supports and put at risk what is often a complicated and tightly woven safety net for employment, education, and housing. All of this impacts their parenting and relationships.
In this webinar, parenting youth in foster care will share how they have been experiencing the last few months, including what their most urgent needs and concerns are right now related to health care but also education, employment, housing, childcare, relationships and their children’s needs.... The audience will leave with an understanding not only of the needs of parenting youth in foster care but how this is having an impact on their ability to parent. They also will provide their ideas on how some of those needs can be met. Attendees will have an opportunity to get questions answered directly from young people with lived experience in the foster care system. They will also receive information on resources, services and programs that are supporting parenting youth in California with a particular emphasis on LA County.
