Yes they are. I went through a similar situation when I was 17 in foster care.

Check out EndTab.org. They conduct trainings to report define and stop online harassment, cyberstalking and more. They also train how to use your cell phone so that you can keep it and not take it away.

FAM is a new program launching in the SF Bay Area to serve youth in foster care who have experienced CSEC by providing a family based placement with 2 highly trained and supported caregivers. Any suggestions for how to support youth victims in foster care that are declining to be placed with family and foster/resource homes and preferring instead group-based care to have more "Freedom" to leave as they choose. We understand the challenges they must be facing around how to receive the personalized care and attention they receive from family-based living, but worry that by continuing to place them in STRPs that they AWOL from, they are not getting the support they need.

i am a survivor and it took me 3 years of being out of the life to come to terms with what happened. My mentor Mary White was there from day one and waited until i was ready, until i came to her and it made such a difference

right sometimes home is not safe and it's deeper than what's on the surface and what they can see

I’m glad you said that.. sometimes going back home isnt always a good fit

it's a lot of mental and emotional abuse in a home

It would be nice to have more Tiny House communities throughout the nation, but with wrap-around services for those communities. Out here in the desert, there aren't too many emergency housing options and the ones that we do have are almost always full or have a long waitlist. Even with the Section 8 vouchers, there is a huge wait list in our county and low inventory of homes that accept the vouchers. Any suggestions, from anyone would be great! Thank you all for the amazing information you share and the work that you do!!!💜💜💜

Transitional Housing Placement Programs for nonminor dependents offer a lot more freedom than a traditional foster placement in various counties.

Valley Oasis in LA County SPA 1 have a program called Host Homes for the youth. This program is a household accepting the youth into their home for 6 months. In the six month's the Host receives a stipen, and signs a contract agreeing to take care of, teach, mentor, and mold.

You are on to something with the tiny houses. if we had the funding we would definitely do it.

Based on lived experiences what type of living environments are the most conducive for healing and growing after the life?

Saving Innocence has trainings for foster parents. Tika does some of the support groups for them

If a second home is purchased to provide housing for youth, is funding available to help pay the mortgage?

Yes! Extended family matters. That’s why FAM hopes to match each youth with 2 families (a primary residence and an auntie/grandma/mentor) so that youth have options. (JoinFam.org)

Training Email: csectraining@westcoastcc.orgWestcoast Children's Clinic offers Advanced CSEC training for Caregivers and Providers.The training will provide an advanced and comprehensive curriculum on best practices for supporting and parenting youth that are commercially sexually exploited. In this 16-hour training, we will build on the skills and concepts learned in previous introduction to commercial sexual exploitation trainings, including but not limited to: an exploration of common dynamics when caring for and supporting commercially exploited youth and how these dynamics impact parenting/caretaking and caregivers.

How do we transfer the CSEC lens to our gang involved youth who are also recruited, exploited and essentially trafficked (forced to run/sell drugs, engage in criminal activity and sell or provide sex). There seems to be so much crossover.
